Rob’s early years working on his grandfather’s beef farm were formative. Rob graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 1996. His previous jobs have included Listowel Vet Clinic (1996-1998), OVC Ruminant Field Services (1998-2010), Swackhammer Vet Services (2010-2012), and Main Street Animal Hospital (2012-2017). Rob purchased the bovine portion of the Main Street practice in 2017 and established Upper Grand Vets. Dairy cattle lameness, dairy farm profitability and reproduction are areas of special interest to Rob. He lives on a farm with his wife and 2 kids where they keep a small beef herd, 3 horses, a couple cats and a dog. In his spare time, Rob enjoys playing hockey and camping.
Graduating the Ontario Veterinary College in 2022, Mike focused on bovine medicine, with a keen interest in problem solving and consulting. A significant proportion of his clinical year was spent in western Canada, learning beef and dairy medicine from the best in Alberta and British Colombia. Mike’s drive and vision have already been recognized by the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, and in 2020 he was awarded the Amstutz Scholarship for his character, knowledge, experience, and motivation to become an outstanding bovine veterinarian. More recently, in 2022 Mike was selected to attend the Summer Dairy Institute at Cornell University. This concentrated advanced training program is for prospective diary veterinarians with a focus to accelerate and augment the ability of new veterinarians to contribute to the modern dairy industry while fostering development of professional networks. Mike’s mission as a production animal vet is “to make the world a better place for people and the animals we work with”.” Mike currently lives in Guelph, and when not working, can be found hiking, cycling and running with his dog, Dora.
